Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Information Technology

The BSc (Hons.) in IT Degree programme is designed for technically focused students who need to develop strong professional and academic capabilities in programming. You will develop strong technical skills in software design, software engineering, operating systems, systems administration and technical support, and networking. The programme is of 4 years duration with two semesters per year. The programme consists of 121 credits that focus on lecture hours, tutorial classes, practical classes, projects and internships.

Entry requirements

At least three (3) simple passes (S) in Physical Sciences stream or Engineering Technology stream in one and the same sitting at the G.C.E. A/L Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification;

At least three (3) simple passes (S) in any stream in one and the same sitting at the G.C.E. A/L Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification with a Credit pass (C) in Mathematics at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination conducted by Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification, with a bridging programme approved by the Specified Authority. (However, any candidate who has obtained a simple pass (S) for Information & Communication Technology, in any attempt, at the G.C.E. A/L Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification shall be exempted from the bridging course).

Course Fee

The course fee is presently Rs. 1,600,000 and the Registration fee is Rs. 12,500. This all-inclusive fee is charged to cover lectures, tutorials, and examinations, as well as access to computer laboratory facilities and the library.

The fees should be credited to, Account No 0207 1000 0760 of the Sampath Bank in favour of Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies, at the Sampath Bank Makola Branch or any branch of Sampath Bank. Normally, fees paid will not be refunded. However, requests for refund of fees may be considered if made before the expiry of one week from the date of commencement of lectures for each semester.
